Disney Park Highlight

Typhoon Lagoon is one of two water parks at the Walt Disney World Resort. When it originally opened in 1989 its sister water park was Disney’s River Country. That park has since closed and the second park is now Disney’s Blizzard Beach. Although Typhoon Lagoon stays open year-round, it does close from time to time for quick maintenance purposes. During this time, Blizzard Beach makes sure to be open for any guest looking for a day in the water. The theme of Typhoon Lagoon revolves around a storyline where a massive typhoon has recently struck a beach in a tropical paradise and everything lies in a watery mess. There’s even a mountain at the park’s center that has impaled the local shrimping boat “Miss Tilly”. Every hour, on the hour, the mountain shoots off a 50-foot geyser!
