Disney Park Highlight
Disney’s Animal Kingdom opened on Earth Day in 1998 and marks the fourth and final major theme park at the Walt Disney World Resort. Animal Kingdom is a zoological venue and also the largest theme park in the work at 580 acres. The park revolves around several themes that were important to Walt Disney himself, including conservatism of nature, the environment, and the animal kingdom. As such, Animal Kingdom is unique to the other parks in that it does not put on nightly fireworks displays (for the comfort of the resident animals). Last year the park welcomed over 12.5 million guests making it the sixth most visited theme park in the World. At the venue’s center rests the iconic symbol of the park, a 145-foot-tall (44 M) and 50-foot-wide (15 M_ baobab tree (fake and artificial, unfortunately). Animal Kingdom is split up into seven themed areas: Oasis, Discovery Island, Pandora – The World of Avatar, Africa, Rafiki’s Planet Watch, Asia, and DinoLand U.S.A.
