SeaWorld Orlando has been sitting at the crossroads of education, excitement, and controversy ever since it first opened its Port of Entry. The theme park, or Marine Zoological Park, as it is often called, is home to both World leading marine biologists and fascinating marine life. Whether visitors flock to the park for thrill-seeking aqua inspired rides, or to learn more about the secrets of the oceans, SeaWorld Orlando has it all.
Although most people don't consider SeaWorld to be a mecca for roller coasters, they will certainly have their minds changed after a visit. Kraken, a "floorless" roller coater, has been a staple in the park for many years, and just a few years ago Manta, a "flying" roller coaster joined in on the fun. Mako, which looks to take the prize of not only the craziest coaster in SeaWorld, but maybe all of Orlando. Mako is a shark themed "hypercoaster", named after the fastest shark in the sea, with heights over 200 feet, and speeds over 73 MPH.
Other attractions and rides include Journey to Atlantis, Shamu Express, Antarctica: Empire of the Penguins, Turtle Trek, Sky Tower, Wild Arctic, and more. There are also great shows at SeaWorld, and none bigger than at Shamu Stadium, which holds 7 million gallons of water, and is the performance stage for the park's 7 killer whales. Other entertainment venues include The Whale and Dolphin Stadium, The Sea Lion and Otter Stadium, and several others.
